Personally, I will often suspend and background a task, since it’s faster to use type the
short commands (usually ^Z and fg when done) all in the terminal, rather than require use
of the mouse (or possibly using other different keyboard commands) to open a new terminal
window, do your task, and close the window.
I will still sometimes reflexively use ^Z/fg even when working in tmux, especially if what
I need to do is a prerequisite to the backgrounded task getting done - “jobs” output
becomes my working “stack”.
