Since they deprecated procfs, most FreeBSD software will tend to not
expect it, and just ignore it.
Generally the BSDs (and OS X) don't seem to
actively maintain procfs
and it has been remove from OpenBSD.
Indeed. Last time I checked, NetBSD was the holdout. I hope they don't
follow suit.
