CMake is the very antithesis of a good tool. It doesn't help. I think
it is perhaps the worst abomination EVER in the world of software tools,
and especially amongst software construction tools.
Someone clearly never used imake...

I've grovelled deeply in the innards of X11's use of imake, but I assert
that it's atrocities pale in comparison to those of cmake. At least
there were real parsers and proper syntax for imake, and indeed it even
built on and used other existing well known tools!
