I thought only CP/M and its descendants did that.
Also TOPS-10. And proably other DEC operating systems, but I don't know
much about those. I believe CP/M was inspired by many of the DEC
traditions,
VMS, TOPS-20, RT-11 and RSTS/e did as well. Presumably RSX did too since
DEC tried hard to keep RSX/VMS 'finger compatible' though I have no first
hand
experience with RSX to say for sure.
