I must be weird: I use VI, but EMACS key bindings in my shells.
And I've never understood why EMACS doesn't end a file with a newline; I
was forever cleaning up a former cow-orker's work. I guess it depends on
whether you consider "\n" to be a line terminator (VI) or a line separator
(EMACS).
