Dave,
I’ve tried doing the ‘dd’ in a for or while loop many ways, many times.
Perhaps you could write & yesy a little demo script for me.
Say, “ls -1 | for (); do dd bs=10b; done”

I would use "expr" for the arithmetic because I've never bothered to
learn the Bash syntax :-)
