I remember reworking the serial card on a PDP-8/e to talk to a 2400 baud "glass teletype," which as I recall was a Televideo.  I bypassed a couple of dividers in the clock chain; fortunately, the logic was able to deal with the faster transitions!  We felt so "cutting edge"....  -- Ian

Having used it in "the good old days," I can only assure you that this 
was totally true.  I thought we were truly in heaven when we upgraded 
from 110 baud Teletypes to 1200 baud Decwriters!  My goodness, I feel 
really old just now.  :-)
