M$'s company email running on UNIX until the mid of the 90ts. They logged in from NT via telnet or so, running elm configured with vi as editor, reading and sending mail, finally returning to the kiddies os. Of course Bill used UNIX. However, you'll read that and even more in the softpedia article.
