Tecs 101 End-Term Exam
Here is some information about the end-term exam.
- Date: 20th April, 3pm, Sports hall.
- The exam is open-book, and is 2 hours long. The exam is worth 30%
of your course assessment.
- You may bring a calculator to the exam.
- The exam will cover the material from Weeks 1 to 12. Read the textbook
and listen to the lecture recordings to know what you should study.
Note that we did not cover the VM part 2, the compiler part 2 (i.e.
code generation), nor the Operating System section.
- Question One consists of five multiple-choice, each worth 1 mark each.
- Question Two is a general question worth 9 marks where you will write
in English, not in code.
- Question Three is a general question worth 6 marks where you will
write in English, not in code.
- Question Four is a part-English, part-coding question worth 10 marks.
You should expect to deal with Jack code, VM code and/or Hack assembly
code.
- In total, there are 30 marks available on the exam; you should try
to spend no more than 4 minutes per mark.
- If you communicate with anybody during the exam, use electronic devices,
or see another student's answers, you will be severely penalised.
- Note: If you don't understand a question, or need clarification
on what it is asking, you can ask the lecturer to explain the question
in another way. You cannot ask if your answer is correct etc.
- The questions on the exam were designed using Bloom's taxonomy.
There will be questions that:
- test your basic knowledge from this course;
- test your comprehension of the material;
- ask you to apply this knowledge and comprehension to obtain some answers;
and
- ask you to analyse scenarios using your knowledge.
- Please remember to go to the toilet before you come to the exam, and
to switch off your mobile phone when you are in the exam.
