 
  
  
  
 
Instead of using link layer addresses when transmitting IP datagrams, partial or full IP addresses themselves can be used. This obviates the need for any ARP/RARP protocol. DUAL defines the following 8 address types to be used when IP is the higher layer protocol.

The following are defined for when extended IP addresses of 64 octets become defined.

For all multi-octet address types (i.e AD_2IP to AD_8IP), the address is transmitted in big-endian format, in the same manner as IP addresses in IP fragments.
