Warren Toomey

I've got no idea what to put on a personal page, so here goes nothing!

I am 27, born in Sydney, Australia. I started Uni in 1984 at U.N.E in Armidale, New South Wales. I got my Honours in Comp Sci in 1988, and moved down to Canberra to work in a Distributed Operating Systems research group. Now I'm currently doing a Ph.D in computer networks (full-time), and also have a full-time job as an Associate Lecturer, teaching 2nd year Operating Systems and 3rd year Data Networks.

My computer related interests are operating systems and networks, amateur packet radio, a bit of LaTeX, some graphics, and writing a tcsh-like shell.

Other interests are astronomy (not good in Canberra with 300,000 people), alternative movies (I loved Shadowlands), my vegetable garden which is doing well, cooking vegetarian and restaurants. Oh, and lots of books.

For the -ism happy, I'm semi-vegetarian, pro-feminist and inclined towards Zen and Taoism. Musically, Mike Oldfield and the Alan Parsons Project are big. I played bass in a blues band until my Uni grades started plummeting.

Eventually I'll get around to putting links to my research papers/seminars here.

Enjoy life!
